Psoriasis is a skin disease marked by red, itchy, scaly patches.
It is different than Eczema in that it has more defined patches and is generally not as itchy as Eczema. Psoriasis effects people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds.
What Causes Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is caused by a mixture of genetics and an overactive immune system that directs new skin cells to form in days rather than weeks, making the cells grow too quickly and pile up on the surface of the skin.
Some common triggers of Psoriasis can include:
- Stress
- Skin injury
- Strep throat
However, triggers for Psoriasis can vary from person to person.
